Booking a professional patio clean for the first time? Here's exactly what the process involves from start to finish.
If you've never had your patio professionally cleaned before, you might be wondering what to expect. Here's a step-by-step guide to our patio cleaning process so you know exactly what happens on the day.
Before We Arrive
We'll have already visited (or used photos you've sent) to assess the patio and provide your quotation. Before our team arrives, we ask customers to:
- Move any patio furniture, planters, and decorative items off the patio
- Ensure access to a mains water supply (garden tap or indoor tap with hose)
- Make sure there's adequate parking for our van and equipment
- Let us know about any particularly stubborn staining or areas of concern
Step 1: Area Preparation
Our team will arrive with all the equipment and cleaning products needed. We'll set up our pressure washing equipment and lay down any protective coverings needed to protect adjacent planted areas, walls, or vehicles.
Step 2: Pre-Treatment
For most patios, we'll apply a biodegradable biological pre-treatment to the entire surface and allow it to dwell. This begins breaking down algae, moss, and other organic growth before we start the pressure washing stage.
Step 3: Pressure Washing
Using commercial-grade pressure washing equipment set to the correct pressure for your surface type, we'll clean the entire patio area systematically. We use rotary surface cleaners for large open areas and directed jets for edges, steps, and corners.
Step 4: Detail Cleaning
We'll work along all edges, between any planters or fixed features, and along the joins between the patio and the house. This step ensures a thorough, even result across the whole area.
Step 5: Rinse Down
Once cleaning is complete, we rinse the entire area thoroughly with clean water to remove all cleaning product residue and loosened biological matter.
Step 6: Sealing (Optional)
If you've booked re-sanding and/or sealing, this is carried out once the surface has had time to dry adequately. Sealing typically requires 24 hours of dry weather after application.
After We Leave
We'll leave your patio clean and clear, with all our equipment and waste removed. We'll advise you on aftercare and when the patio will be ready to use (particularly important if a sealant has been applied).
